Meet the judges

We are all from the Midwest, specifically central Illinois, and we share a love for pretty women... especially ones that are willing to crack the door and let us peek in with our cameras, so to speak, while they share their intimate secrets with our members.

We are also the ones who will be the primary judges.  We are "real people," not what many people think of with their misperceptions.  We don't sit around every day drooling over pictures of naked women.  Far from it.  While we are active in SpiceShots and judges of adult entertainment material, this is only a tiny part of our lives.  While we won't describe everything in our lives in these bios, here is some information about us, our hobbies and background relating to our work here.

From the left, above:

Dan is our artist, er, primary photographer.  He's in his early fifties, but he's fit and trim and acts like he's about 40.  He loves photography and has been taking photos for decades, winning numerous awards.  His creative work has been seen in newspapers, magazines and photography shows, not to mention the hundreds of weddings he's done over the years.

Dan especially loves work outside the studio.  "It doesn't take any special talent to get good pictures in a studio setting," he said.  "Getting great pictures in the great outdoors - now that requires talent."  He likes to take his subject out to parks and other attractive locations to add something truly special to the photo.  "A good landscape coupled with a good subject makes a real picture," he told us.

Of course, photographing women is one of the perks of being a good photographer.  Dan loves making women look simply beautiful, and women love flattering photographs, so it's a perfect match.  Photographing pretty women, though, is especially a treat.  And sometimes, photographing pretty women without most of their clothes, that's fun too.

"It's always a treat when a woman shares her intimacy, either for her lover or for a photographer.  I respect that and feel honored that she is willing to do those things for me."

Like most guys, he likes admiring pretty women.  Unlike most guys, he enjoys admiring them from the artistic point of view.  "Women are beautiful on so many levels," he says.  He's been married (to the same women) for over thirty years, too.  His kids are grown and leading successful lives as well.

Scarlett is our model liaison.  She's a 21-year-old pretty blonde girl who's been living and working on her own since she was 15.  Incredibly street smart and quite business savvy (she owns her own home, holds a full-time job and does this job on the side), she knows what she wants and how to get it.  That applies to having a successful career and to men.

"I'm not going to date a guy who doesn't treat me well or won't do my laundry," she said recently, dead serious.  "I'm happy to help with the chores around the house, but I hate laundry!"  She followed up with a sly grin and a wink by saying, "And you know what, the guys I've lived with don't seem to mind doing my laundry."

Oh, and you won't find any panties in her hamper, either.  She firmly believes in going "commando," even in skirts.

Scarlett's also voracious reader in her spare time, preferring a good book the boob tube.  Every few days she's working on a new story.  She has two big dogs at home, a pit bull and a Rottweiler, that are cute and friendly as can be - unless you display a malevolent eye at Scarlett.  They do command respect as she often walks them after dark.  "I'm not worried," she said of walking her dogs late at night.  "I believe in the goodness of people.  And if that's not enough, well, these two dogs weigh about a hundred plus pounds each and will chew any bad guys to pieces like they did my sofa cushions when they were pups."  Bad guys take note.

Guys and gals will notice that she's built like the proverbial brick you-know-what, and while she's certainly not a porn aficionado, she enjoys perusing on occasion.  "I'd rather look at pretty women than guys any day," she says.  "Girls are much prettier naked than guys."  We would have to agree.

John is our secondary photographer and a partner in the holding company that owns SpiceShots.net.  Even though he's a relatively shy thirtysomething single guy, he has an uncanny ability to end up with some very pretty girls on his arm, sometimes years younger than he.  "I love pretty girls," he tells us, "photographing them, spending time with them, or simply being around them, it doesn't matter."

Ladies, while he's never been married and doesn't have any kids, he is looking for that someone special to settle down with.   "I've been close twice in the last ten years," he told us, buying engagement rings for relationships that later broke up before the "I do's."  "I don't want to stand at the alter and later have kids with someone only to find out five or ten years later that I didn't find the right woman."

John's been taking pictures for a long time.  His grandfather piqued his interest in photography as a young boy.  The two of them would spend hours taking black and white pictures, developing the film and printing the pictures in the grandfather's darkroom.  Later, while still in junior high and high school, he worked shooting sports and news photography for a county newspaper for about five years before attending the University of Illinois, doing most of their darkroom work as well.  He also worked for the local fire department as their department photographer. (If you can't refuse to tell him where the fire is when he calls as a newspaper reporter/photographer, why not invite him to join the department?)

Also while still as a high school student, John had a state-of-the-art darkroom of his own at home (which, twenty years later, with the advancing digital age, was given away to a local high school photography program), along with a studio set up complete with a (then) state-of-the-art studio light set, Hasselblad medium format camera and of course, nothing but the prettiest girls from all of the county's high schools (they knew him from his newspaper photography assignments at their schools).  Along the way, he picked up dozens of awards in state-wide contests in his later years in high-school.  It was a rough life, so to speak.

John's other love is firearms.  When he's not at work or shooting pictures, you may find John at the range.  He's a practicing certified personal protection and pistol instructor and enjoys sharpening his skills as his busy schedule allows.  "I'd like to shoot a lot more," he noted, "but I just can't find the time.  Especially with SpiceShots...  let's see: taking pictures of a pretty girl or a trip the range... sorry guys, I'll have to take a rein check!" He teaches over one hundred people a year in the basics of firearm safety, shooting fundamentals, the judicious use of deadly force and more in two-day classes.  It qualifies his students for non-resident concealed carry licenses from Florida which are valid in over half the nation.  "I enjoy empowering people to be able to count on themselves for their own defense and the defense of their loved ones," he explained.

Jim is an alternate judge and also a partner in the holding company that owns SpiceShots.net.  Like John, Jim has an appreciation for pretty girls, but unlike John, since he's married, he can't ask them out.  It's not all bad though as he's got a loving wife and two wonderful kids to come home to at night.

He works days as a business executive, running day-to-day operations of field offices.  It's a lot of work, but has it's rewards.

Jim's second love, after his family, is drag racing.  He's got a very nice car (complete with a drag parachute!) and is a serious competitor as his schedule allows it.  His dad got him started in racing when he was very young.  "I think I was driving a car before I could ride a bicycle," he said.  Well, not just any car... it was more like a souped up go-cart.  "We can get those babies cooking at over 40 miles per hour with your average lawn-mower engine."  Well, after some modifications, of course.  Since then, he's been competing for many years, first as a "junior" and now in an advanced (virtually pro-am) class.  He enjoys going to all sorts of motor races throughout the Midwest with friends and family as well.

This fall, he's buying a couple of "junior dragsters" for his kids as well.  Look out, their will soon be a third generation of his family racing soon.
